A recent news article has caused quite a stir. It is about a regular 13 year old boy in London, the only thing different thing about him is the fact that he just had a child. Alfie Patten, a thirteen year old from East Sussex and his fifteen year old girlfriend Chantelle welcomed 7 lb 3 oz Maisie Roxanne on February ninth. Alfie and Chantelle had unprotected sex one time while Alfie was 12, and they say this one time impregnated Chantelle. Chantelle and Maisie now live with her mother, her jobless father, and her five brothers in a rented council house in Eastbourne. The entire family lives on benefits. Alfie live in a house across town with his mother. So my question is, what caused this premature interest in sex? Is it parenting gone wrong? Or does it have to do with the media? My opinion is that this is a unique combination of both of those. I believe that the media's blatant use of sex has alot to do with this situation, and a lack of proper parenting gave them the opportunity to make these life changing decisions. But, at the same time we can't stop the media from using sex to sell, and we also can't make parents teach thier children a certain way. So what is it that we can do to stop this from happening in the future? Let me know your thoughts on this subject.
